The White Bull

More often than not, when something says 'Award Winning', It's a good sign. Thankfully, The White Bull's 'Award Winning Sunday Roast' doesn't disappoint. With the gastro-pub taking the county prize in The National Pub & Bar Awards 2023, having also featured in the Michelin Guide in 2022, it shouldn't come as a shock.

Family-run and cherished by Oswaldtwistle locals, The White Bull prides itself on good service and fantastic food. Melt-in-your-mouth beef and impressive Yorkshires. Cask Ale for the adults, crayons for the kids. The quality is top-end and there are no pretentious portion sizes either, so you get what you pay for!

Location: 166 New Ln, Oswaldtwistle, Accrington BB5 3QW

The Butlers Arms

At the Butlers Arms, you're spoilt for choice with turkey, beef, lamb, gammon, and even a mix if you fancy, and there's a veggie option too. To their credit, they manage to maintain their standards across the board, and have a nice wine selection for you to choose from should you want something to wash your roast down with.

The location is big and divided into sections, but still feels warm and very family-friendly. Feel free to bring your dog along too!

Location: Victoria Rd, Pleasington, Blackburn BB2 5JH

Home

Home is where the heart is, and in this case, by heart, we mean the best beef in Blackburn. Well... near Blackburn. It's about 25 minutes outside the center but it's worth the trip. We suggest the fabled Sunday Roast platter. The beef is showstopping; nicely cooked and very tender.

There's also a Chicken Roast, as well as a Nut Lunch, a nice option that'll keep non-meat lovers happy. The seasonal veg is great too but one of the biggest strengths is the overall feel of the place, most likely down to the fresh decor and friendly staff. Home is a must-visit for Sunday Lunchers.

Location: 3 Barnes Wallis Way Buckshaw Village, Chorley PR7 7JA

The Spread Eagle

Fittingly named, The Spead Eagle offers Sunday Roast accompanied by striking views of the surrounding countryside, complete with an impressive outdoor area. There's just the small question of what roast to order. You've got the regular options: Roast Turkey, Beef Sirloin, and Pork Loin (served with tasty crackling), or go for all three with the Trio of Roasts, or try the slow-cooked beef rib served on the bone. Vegans needn't worry because the Woodland Mushroom Bourguignon Wellington is well-cooked and full of flavour.

Location: Mellor Ln, Mellor, Blackburn BB2 7EG

The Clog & Billycock

No frills, just exceptional Sunday Roasts and fantastic value for money! The hefty portion sizes make sure no one leaves the table feeling short-changed! The beef, served pink, is tremendously tender, but it’s just one of many great options, including a home-cooked cheese and onion pie for vegetarians.

The pub is partly named after functional footwear, but the staff go far beyond functional. Attentive and conversational, they help to instill a comforting feel-good atmosphere in the pub, which, with the help of the fine food, make it a superb place to spend your Sunday!

Location: Billinge End Rd, Blackburn BB2 6QB
